Not all puppies do bite, but there are some out there who do bite. Does your puppy bite you and you don’t know how to make it stop?

The solution to this is obviously dog training.

But not many people are willing to train their dog out of comfort or laziness.

That’s right. It is the owner’s responsibility to take care of this problem.

As the title suggested, I have a few tips on this topic, but in the end, you must start some dog training sessions sooner or later. That being said, let’s see the tips.

#1 Give your puppy something to chew instead of your hand

If you have toys around the house that the puppy can chew, that would be awesome. If not, buy some and distract the dog with it.
Instead of biting your hand, the pup can have something to chew on and play with thus your hand is safe.

You can use a toy or something similar instead of your fingers.

Just make sure the pup stays distracted with the toy and not your hand.
It will be a relief and fun to see the puppy busy with something to chew on.

#2 You can teach the puppy “bite inhibition“.

How do you do this? Quite simple. Use body language and facial expressions while he bites to explain to your puppy that he’s hurting you with this behavior.

Yelp at it like another dog will do when it feels pain but don’t pull away, as you encourage your pup into a game of “tug”.

Give him a treat if he understands this from your side.

No matter what you do, don’t punish the puppy or yell at him because of this.

#3 Biting means “Game Over”

While you are playing with your pup, if he bites, then the playing time finishes.

It’s mandatory to let the pup know that he cannot cross this line. no exceptions.

You can use verbal cues like “No” or “Off” if this happens.

Consider this every time you are playing with your puppy.
